Organised by: Messe Frankfurt with the sponsors of the prize: Federation of German Architects (Bund Deutscher Architekten – BDA), Deutsches Architektur-Museum (DAM), Institute for Building and Air Conditioning (Fachinstitut Gebäude Klima e.V - FGK) and the German Federation of Consultant Engineers (Verband Beratender Ingenieure – VBI) with the support of the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC) as part of the European GreenBuilding Programme. 23 - 27 April 2006 Hall 9.2 Architecture and technology are inseparably linked today and influence each other in the planning and construction of modern buildings. With the Architecture+Technology Award, Messe Frankfurt honours the harmonious interaction of design and function and singles out architectural solutions that are exemplary in terms of their flexibility, sustainability and user orientation and have pilot character for the application of new materials and technologies. The competition is open to projects that are less than three years old and have been in full operation in Europe for at least a year. Additionally, the Architecture+Technology Award is presented jointly to architects and engineers whose successful working relationship is distinguished by integrated activities from the project planning stage to implementation. Exhibition of the winning Projects Exhibition from 14 July - 25 August 2006 The Architecture + Technology Award distinguishes built architecture that combines innovative engineering and excellence in architectural design, and is awarded by the Messe Frankfurt (Fair) every three years. The exhibition presents the two prize winning projects - the administration building of SOKA-BAU in Wiesbaden, Germany and the Kunsthaus Gallery and Art Centre in Graz, Austria - as well as the New Talent Award winning project, the three new Flaz Bridges in Samedan, Grison, Switzerland, and three special recognition winning projects.
