European Design Competition of the Messe Frankfurt for energy-saving luminaires and energy-efficient lighting systems for the residential and commercial sectors in cooperation with the European Commission DG JRC.

The 'Lights of the Future' European Design Competition will pay tribute at the forthcoming Light+Building 2008 to visionary and future-oriented luminaires that represent a successful combination of energy efficiency and appealing design. This could be any type of luminaires, which stands out from the rest because of its design or which reinterprets the space in which it is being used. In conjunction with the worldwide discussions on climate, the energy efficiency will be given special consideration during the evaluation of the products and visionary designs.

The winning products selected by the jury will be presented to an international audience of trade visitors in a special exhibition in hall 6.2 at Light+Building in Frankfurt am Main from 6 to 11 April 2008.

The period of registration has expired on 12 December 2007. An announcement isn't possible any longer.

The Rat für Formgebung / German Design Council is in charge of the conceptual and organisational realisation of Lights of the Future 2008.
