FAQ about the postponed Light + Building

Due to the increased spread of the corona virus in Europe, Messe Frankfurt decided to postpone Light + Building to 27. September to 2. October 2020. Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions for exhibitors and visitors as well as general service topics.

For exhibitors

We ask for your understanding of the situation caused by the corona virus. At the present moment we are doing everything to mitigate the impact on the lighting and building services industry. The following paragraphs will enable you to gain an overview of the steps already taken and those to come. We have also brought together and answered some frequently posed questions.

[1] The first step was to protect exhibitors, visitors and staff. We have met this responsibility by postponing Light + Building.
[2] As a second step, we have been able to find an alternative date for the current year (27 September – 2 October 2020), in order to create as little vacuum as possible between supply and demand.
[3] As a third step, we have surveyed all exhibitors regarding their attendance in September 2020.
[4] We are currently waiting for the feedback from the exhibitors regarding their attendance. The deadline ends on 13 March 2020.
[5] Once this deadline is past, your personal Messe Frankfurt contact will be in touch with you promptly regarding further details.
[6] Following the stand-space confirmation, the Shop for Exhibitor Services will be available again.
[7] We shall reimburse the stand rent to all exhibitors who cannot attend on the alternative date.

If you wish to alter the size of your stand (e.g. to enlarge it), please contact your Light + Building sales representative.

As soon as the principal exhibitor has confirmed attendance on the new date, joint-stand participants will be automatically placed. Principal exhibitors and joint-stand participants will settle all requirements among themselves. If you are a principal exhibitor, please get in touch with your Messe Frankfurt contact.

Stand-construction plans already agreed for the March date will still be valid, providing they remain unchanged and retain the originally agreed stand position. This applies to stands of 100 square metres and above which involve a height of 4 metres and have a closed ceiling.

Messe Frankfurt Fairconstruction is an independent company. Should you have any questions about your agreed performances, please contact Messe Frankfurt Fairconstruction directly.

We plan to execute the agreement on stand construction made for the March date analogously in September 2020. The same applies to advance setting up. We shall inform you about this as soon as possible.

Should you confirm your attendance at Light + Building, the Shop for Exhibitor Services will be available for you again following stand confirmation.

Please re-book for the September date any date-related services (such as parking tickets, catering or stand staff) which you have ordered for Light + Building in March. Should you not wish to avail yourself of partial services, we shall reimburse the fee in question.

If you have any questions on this matter, please get in touch with your sales representative or our Accounts Department.

For visitors

All visitor tickets will remain fully valid for the alternative Light + Building date (27 September – 2 October 2020). All ticket holders will be sent new tickets with the current date of Light + Building 2020. Should individual visitors wish to return their tickets because they cannot attend on the postponed date, they can request repayment of their ticket price. Please send an email to tickets@messefrankfurt.com.

Online ticketing for Light + Building has been deactivated until further notice. We will inform you as soon as the online ticketing will be available again.

Non-redeemed voucher codes will remain fully valid and can be redeemed again following opening of the Ticket Shop.

General service information

Should you as a Light + Building visitor have any queries about your travel booking, please contact your contractual partner directly – that means Deutsche Bahn AG or Deutsche Lufthansa AG or other service providers. You will find all the details you need in the Terms & Conditions of Cancellation which you have received when making your booking with the contractual partner concerned. The same applies to reservations or bookings for hotels or guest houses.

Messe Frankfurt is in close contact with the Frankfurt hotel sector. As their representatives have confirmed to us, the hotels are also trying to provide the best possible customer service in this difficult situation for all concerned and to handle re-bookings most obligingly, in order to provide the guest with lasting satisfaction. Nevertheless, room reservations will be governed in the first place by the legal principles of the accommodation contracts and the cancellation rules pertaining to them.
