ASSIL is the Italian Association of Lighting Manufacturers
Member of ANIE Confindustria, it represent over 80 companies manufacturing luminaires, electrical components for lighting, light sources and LED. These companies are the expression of technological excellence of the lighting Industry operating on the Italian market.
ASSIL mission is to represent, defend and advocate member companies to support the development of high-quality industry, built on innovation and internazionalization.
Through training and technical dissemination, assistance and advice on standardization and legislation that regulate the sector, ASSIL creates and promotes a culturally advanced ecosystem of highly knowledgeable companies and professionals, in order to support a qualitative and performance improvement of products placed on the market.
ASSIL companies, with a total turnover of 2,9 billion euros, represent over 65% of the total Italian lighting turnover and over 8,000 employees.
ASSIL’s Technical Area coordinates and superves numerous standardization committees and working groups, at national and international levelactively following the development and implementation of standardization and legislation for the lighting sector.
ASSIL participates in over 70 working groups and committees in the following standardization bodies: CEI (Comitato Elettortecnico Italiano), UNI (Ente Italiano di Normazione), CENELEC (Comité Européen de Normation), CEN (Comité Européen de Normalization), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and ISO (International Standard Organization).
ASSIL is member of the Executive Committee and of the Association Committee of LightingEurope, the industry association that represents the lighting industry in Europe.
ASSIL offers technical support to companies developing luminaires, components for luminaires and lighting systems, light sources and LEDs to ensure the placing on the market of quality products, in compliance with standard requirements and current legislation.
The technological evolution of these last years has led ASSIL to strengthen its participation in the intense standardization and legislative activity, at national and international level. This allows ASSIL to constantly monitor work in progress and to intervene in the development and implementation of rules and laws.
ASSIL guarantees the correct representation of the positions and needs of Member Companies and is able to offer a constant and well-timed update on changes that could impact on member companies through specific technical meetings, technical trainings courses and seminars and technical newsletters.
Since 2009 the Association offers a catalogue of over 30 in class (c/o ASSIL headquarters) and online trainings. Furthermore, ASSIL can help member companies with ad hoc training according to specific needs. Classes and online courses are free for member companies. Also non-member companies and professionals can participate to ASSIL’s trainings, with participation fees according to ASSIL’s price list.
From 2017 ASSIL, in collaboration with AIDI (Italian Lighting Association). Also promotes “Formazione in Luce”, the joint cultural project developed with the aim of updating and training the actors in the lighting supply chain.
