Description

Five decades of expertise in hazardous areas

In many industries and applications, explosive atmospheres can arise in the form of gases, vapors or dusts. A ventilation system is therefore necessary for explosion protection in order to transport this explosive atmosphere out of the room. Typical areas in which explosive atmospheres can occur are the chemical and petrochemical industry, hydrogen applications, the food industry, storage of hazardous substances or biogas plants.

MAICO has been known in the industry for over five decades as a specialist for fans in potentially explosive atmospheres. The company supplies explosion-proof fans for a wide range of requirements for gas, dust and hydrogen applications. The explosion protection is certified in accordance with ATEX and IECEx.

Fans for special applications

Even in non-hazardous areas, ventilation and extraction can face special challenges. For example, in environments in which acidic or corrosive media are conveyed. Particularly high fluid temperatures can also occur. MAICO also offers solutions for these environments and has fans in its portfolio that are suitable for fluid temperatures of up to 200 °C. The MAICO range also includes acid and corrosion-resistant fans.

Energy cost savings of more than 50 % thanks to innovative ZITT motors

Energy cost savings of more than 50 % thanks to innovative ZITT motors

MAICO's EU-wide patented ZITT system for modernizing belt-driven ventilation systems makes it possible to optimize energy efficiency and significantly reduce energy consumption. Ventilation systems improve the air quality in closed rooms by supplying fresh air and removing stale air. Air exchange in production halls is carried out by large fans, which are often driven by outdated motors. With the innovative ZITT motors, users save up to 60 % on energy costs. A study by the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts also confirms that the ZITT system is demonstrably up to 10 % more energy-efficient than comparable refurbishment solutions from competitors.

Rapid amortization thanks to short conversion times and low material costs

During the conversion, the existing AC motors are replaced with the new drive system - consisting of compact permanent magnet synchronous motors and frequency inverters. The connected load can be reduced, as the integrated frequency converters of the ZITT motors usually enable a lower power level. The existing on-site fan itself is not replaced during the conversion and can continue to be used. The conversion time required is very short, which means that the interruption to ongoing operation is kept to a minimum. Due to the enormous energy savings and the significantly lower investment costs for the ZITT system compared to competitor solutions, the measure can pay for itself within two to three years.

Energy cost savings of up to 60 %

If the conversion is also converted to a demand-led control system using sensors, the option of infinitely variable volume flow control enables maximum savings of up to 60 %.

Commissioning the retrofitted system is straightforward and is carried out via Bluetooth or the web-based ZITT-Net. Maintenance during operation is also simple and can be carried out remotely. Parameters can be read out, changed and sent via smartphone using an app. ZITT-Net can also be used to provide remote maintenance assistance from ZITT headquarters at any time. The sustainable and efficient electric motors are available in five sizes from 80 to 160, which, in combination with the frequency inverters, cover 16 power levels.

Well-known reference customers such as the two largest retail companies in Switzerland, Migros and Coop, as well as the Swiss Federal Railways SBB CFF FFS are already benefiting from the savings made by the ZITT system. MAICO is now also offering the energy-saving ZITT motors on the German market.

MAICO presents revolutionary ventilation system with 180° rotation of the entire fan unit

MAICO presents revolutionary ventilation system with 180° rotation of the entire fan unit

With the RotationVent RV 2, MAICO presents a decentralized ventilation system with flexible installation options in the external wall. A pioneering innovation in ventilation technology that offers numerous advantages to end customers, architects, planners and installers alike.

Particularly quiet thanks to the elimination of switching noise

The RotationVent RV 2 impresses with its innovative technology. First and foremost, it has a fan unit that rotates on its own axis, eliminating the switching noise that is otherwise typical of push-pull devices. The elimination of multiple deflection of the air flow increases the volume flow at a lower fan speed. The device is therefore extremely quiet, even during ventilation, and offers a high normal sound level difference when the duct is closed. In addition, the built-in filters - G3 inside and optionally G2 outside - ensure optimum air quality. The tool-free filter change and the optional sensors - from humidity and CO₂ to volatile organic compounds - round off the user-friendliness.

Energy-efficient and energy-saving

With a heat recovery rate of over 80%, the RotationVent RV 2 sets new standards in terms of energy efficiency. In addition, the flow-optimized air flow means that the device requires less power than conventional systems. The appliance therefore achieves energy efficiency class A or A+ with optional sensor technology. This leads to reduced heating costs compared to manual ventilation with the same air turnover. When switched off, the ventilation system closes the passage automatically. This effectively counteracts external influences such as smog or smoke.

Convenient installation thanks to plug & play for new builds and renovations

The RotationVent RV 2 also impresses with its plug & play functionality, which ensures quick installation. Its flexible and simple installation in different wall thicknesses makes installation effortless and efficient. This makes the RV2 equally suitable for new builds and renovations. Holistic ventilation concepts can be easily implemented by networking several devices. The device can be completely removed for maintenance and cleaning work. Installation at an easily accessible height means that maintenance work or filter changes can be carried out effortlessly.

Flexibility & aesthetics

The option of a reveal-integrated, invisible outer panel makes the RotationVent RV 2 aesthetically pleasing and perfect for discreet placement under the window sill, next to the window or in the window reveal. A drip edge is integrated into the outer cover to prevent soiling of the façade. Alternatively, the ventilation system can also be positioned in the reveal. In this case, the outlet is deflected by 90° on the outside inside the reveal. The result is an even more discreet appearance. Thanks to the slimline design, the installation of roller shutters and blinds remains unaffected. The modern design of the inner cover rounds off the overall picture.

With the RotationVent RV 2, MAICO is setting a new standard in decentralized ventilation technology, which combines comfort, energy efficiency and aesthetic design and is suitable for both new buildings and renovations.

Automatic basement dehumidification AKE from MAICO ensures future-proof foundations and a pleasant indoor climate

Automatic basement dehumidification AKE from MAICO ensures future-proof foundations and a pleasant indoor climate

MAICO offers two different systems for automatic cellar dehumidification: with the AKE 100 and AKE 150 units, musty damp cellars are a thing of the past. The ventilation system with integrated humidity difference control as well as external and internal sensors ensures a dry climate in the basement (e.g. in laundry rooms, utility and drying rooms, cellars in apartment buildings as well as workshops and hobby rooms) that protects the fabric of the building. The stand-alone ventilation systems with integrated fan are perfect for independent dehumidification of cellar rooms up to a maximum of 70 m².

The AKE control system can also be used to combine a wide variety of fans - e.g. pipe, duct or wall fans - and ventilate large or multiple rooms fully automatically. An existing ventilation system can also be converted into an automatic cellar dehumidification system with all its advantages.

How intelligent building technology works

An external sensor in the shutter flap identifies the humidity outside and transmits the information to the powerful extract air fan, which, thanks to modern and high-quality control electronics, only starts operating as required when the absolute humidity in the cellar room is higher than outside. Thanks to the integrated internal sensor on the extract air fan, neither humid nor warm air enters the cellar, where it can condense. The automatic ventilation only runs if the outside air can also be used for drying.

Dry rooms from the outset - at all times

Basement rooms remain dry with the AKE even in high humidity in summer, as no condensation settles on cold basement walls and penetrates the masonry. At temperatures below 5°C, the system switches off automatically, preventing the cellar from cooling down too much. The respective power mode is displayed on the exhaust air fan via a status LED.

Fully automatic ventilation technology and proven ease of installation

The AKE from MAICO offers the right ventilation strategy for every installation case, because the system is very easy to install with just one core drill hole (105 mm, or 120 mm when installed with wall sleeve WH 100) and guarantees optimum control at all times thanks to permanent air comparison. In both new builds and renovations, MAICO's AKE is the ideal solution for long-term protection of the building fabric in all basement rooms.
