The maxi | Mk II is a hardware component that is just one third the size of conventional units. At the same time, its performance capacity is twice as high as that of its predecessor, with 20,000 or 40,000 data points. There is currently no other gateway on the market that is as compact and yet as powerful as this.

Operators of large properties need plenty of space in which to set up the necessary infrastructure. So it is ideal if the individual technical elements in an automation system take up as little room as possible. MBS’s latest product in its proven maxi gateway series is the maxi | Mk II | CAN: a communication interface with impressive features. Small in size and with a maximum of 40,000 data points, it is the most compact and yet the most powerful gateway currently on the market.

The communication infrastructures of extensive properties present major challenges for their operators. For example, if the fire alarm system alone includes hundreds of thousands of smoke detectors with possibly three data points each, the equipment required for this at automation level needs a very large amount of space. Until now, whole rows of control cabinets were needed just for the installation of the gateways, which serve as communication interfaces for the various communication protocols. Added to this are the associated wiring and electricity consumption requirements.

Fast integration through an integrated protocol hardware adapter such as CAN, DALI, KNX, LON, M-BUS, PROFINET
The integrated CAN-adapter make the usual external bus couplers unnecessary, reducing the amount of wiring required and enabling faster connection to serial and network-based communication protocols.

MBS BACnet-Router

A skilled data communications interpreter

The Universal BACnet Routers (UBR) from MBS are essential interfaces for industrial and building automation. As media converters, they connect BACnet networks from different technologies, such as BACnet/IP, BACnet Ethernet, BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/LonTalk. In this way, building automation technology systems, DDC stations, field devices and controllers, for example, can easily be connected to a shared network.

UBR-01 | Mk II
The Universal BACnet Router UBR-01 enables the implementation of the BACnet network topologies ISO 8802-2 (also known as BACnet / Ethernet known), BACnet / IP and MS / TP (serial BACnet networks based on RS485).

UBR-02
The UBR-02 model routes packages between the MS/TP media (RS485), Ethernet and IP, which can be linked to create a common network. The UBR-02 can now link two separate IP areas for the first time with two network connections.

UBR | LON
MBS GmbH has developed a Universal BACnet Router (UBR) which links BACnet over LonTalk to BACnet/IP. It gives property operators an inexpensive way of connecting facility engineering based on BACnet over LonTalk to the modern IP technology.

The MBS gateways are based on the same product platform and therefore offer an extraordinary degree of versatility and flexibility for adapting to changing requirements – an advantage that results in especially low total costs: new gateway purchases are rendered unnecessary because the devices’ adaptability means new functionalities can simply be activated. The MBS gateways offer a wide range of functionalities that help our customers reduce outage periods, shorten integration times and cut costs in the long term.

All major communication protocols are available
With its numerous communication protocols , the CAN Gateway offers the right solution for nearly every requirement. On request, manufacturer-specific protocols can also be implemented. The configuration of the gateway is done with text files, these are transferred to an integrated web server via browser to the device - the configuration is saved permanently on the gateway - and optionally as a data backup in the dropbox (prerequisite: Internet connection).

Web Interface
The gateways feature a web interface for configuration and analysis that makes configuring the devices significantly easier, allowing them to be taken into operation more quickly. The web interface additionally provides access to the various upgrade options for the MBS gateways, for example activation of up to 2500 data points.

RTC and memory card
The gateways are equipped with a real-time clock and optionally a storage card on which e.g. trend log data can be recorded.

Upgradeable
The CAN gateway is available with 25, 200, 500, and 2500 data points. The activation is done via the web interface. If a volume is not sufficient once after the integration, an upgrade to larger data point numbers is possible at any time (up to 2,500 data points).

BACeye/SC

"Swiss army knife" for building automation with BACeye/SC

Obtaining neutral information about data exchange in a BACnet network is not always easy. Especially if the various components have been supplied by different manufacturers. BACeye/SC is a cross-functional tool that can be used to clearly visualise networks and quickly identify problems.

This compact tool by Krefeld-based MBS GmbH makes the work of system integrators, commissioning engineers, plant operators and end users considerably easier. It didn’t get its reputation among customers as the de-facto standard for nothing. To keep it this way, the browser is getting an upgrade to the latest BACnet standard Revision 22 that enables users to establish their own security infrastructure (BACnet Secure Connect – BACnet/SC). This means the tried-and-tested BACeye 2.0 version will become the innovative BACeye/SC tool. Version differences BACeye & BACeye/SC ⟩

Whether at airports, hospitals or office buildings – for professionally commissioning BACnet networks with multiple devices from different manufacturers, every technician dreams of a neutral tool with a wide range of possible applications that can be used right from the start to check whether a system has been set up as intended in terms of the type, number, names and functions of the data points, setting the necessary alarms, and much more. A neutral helper like this is also welcome once the system is up and running, e.g. when malfunctions occur between the central control system and the devices at field level.
