About us

Safety Product is the exclusive manufacturer of the ZIPpole, the safest energy absorbing traffic pole worldwide and is CE-certified according to EN40, EN12899 and EN12767.

We developed a revolutionary wrinkle pole that releases its strong shape and bends into a soft ribbon in the event of a collision. In the meanwhile, the speed of the vehicle is reduced in a controlled manner, drastically decreasing the risk of serious injuries to the occupants. This in contrast to a collision with a rigid pole where the vehicle is abruptly halted. During this short distance crash the body absorbs a lot of negative forces, which increases the risk of serious injuries.

The ZIPpole consists of one or more elastic steel plates that are placed in a polygonal conical shape. The overlapping ends of these plates are connected with rivets over the entire length of the pole. The rivets and the distance between them are calculated in that way that the pole is stable and vertically strong to withstand high wind speeds. When the ZIPpole is hit, the rivets break, causing the pole to release its strong shape. The energy from the crash is absorbed by the ZIPpole instead of the vehicle and its occupants. The direction from which the ZIPpole is hit, is of no importance.

The ZIPpole is available in different sizes and designs and can be placed in every type of ground. The ZIPpole can be manufactured in all RAL colors by means of powder coating.

Safety Product delivers the ZIPpole along connecting and transit routes worldwide, mainly in European countries and countries in the Middle East and South America. The production takes place by our own means in our state-of-the-art factory in Olen (Belgium).

Because we work with high-quality steel, less material is needed. The steel used is fully recyclable. And thanks to our own CO²-friendly automatic production line without any welding, we can offer the ZIPpole at a competitive price.

The highest risk for a traffic accident with lethal outcome is a traffic accident in which a road user collides with a structure outside the driving surface. Most of these structures are poles for lighting, traffic signs or cameras. Traditionally these structures are rigid poles that don’t budge under any circumstances. We offer poles that are not rigid but zip when collided with. Therefore, we call them ZIPpoles.

The means of production and materials used are essential for the strength of the pole in use and for the folding capacities in case of a collision. The production of each ZIPpole happens in-house, in our own fully automated, innovative factory. We choose to work with high-quality steel of an elastic sort so bending or rupture cannot occur. For optimal durability of our ZIPpole we offer extra protection against corrosion by means of galvanisation or zinc-coating with the highly innovative product Magnelis which provides an unprecedented level of protection, even in the most hostile environments.

Both the origination and the continuous development of the ZIPpole is managed in-house. This means that we are fully knowledgeable of all aspects of the product and we can provide you with all the necessary information during the entire process from consideration to placing. In coordination with Vias, the independent institute for road safety in Belgium, we have an official crash test site where amongst others our ZIPpole is tested (and certified).

We can be found on many exhibitions and conferences all over the world to keep us up to date and in touch with the developments in the market. In many countries worldwide we work with local agents who are familiar with the language and legislation and can inform you accordingly.
