Q-8 POI
Description
The Q-8 combines the compact size and low power consumption of the Q-7 series, the ergonomy of the Q-10, and the powerful strobe / blinder of the G-7 BeaSt in 2 separated linear arrays. This high-TLCI DualSource luminaire features RGBW mixing, pixel-mapping control, 110º and 75° spread angles, and all the benefits of magnetic easy-fit filter frames. It is a waterproof studio light for close distances, a strobe effect for touring, and a direct view fixture in a lightweight and robust design: the definitive mid-size flood/blinder.Photometrics
The SGM Q-8 is a DualSourceTM touring fixture that is made to the quality standards of a studio fixture. The evolution of the Q-7 brings to market a combined 53849 lumens strobe blinder, and a 51,771 lumens studio-quality floodlight with TLCI 90+.
High color rendering
With a calibrated CRI performance above 90, and a 95+ TLCI via RAW modes, the Q-8 is the first RGBW fixture to achieve this level of white reproduction and outstanding output when mixing 4 LEDs. Thanks to SGM's TruColor+TM technology, the Q-8 can deliver up to 47,232 lumens at 5,600K with excellent color rendition (CRI 96). Being already a great floodlight for close distances and medium-throws, the Q-8 color specs open a wide range of applications in different segments.
Double-tap strobe, segment controlled
The Q-8 implements two completely independent linear strobe blinders, based on G-7 BeaSt's LEDs. These powerful strobe blinders are located at the top and bottom of the floodlight section, keeping all the advantages of the Q series while delivering new effects and 8 controllable pixels. In adition, the Q-8 includes a dual color strobe feature for the RGBW panel, allowing to strobe in a color while using a different color in the background. Two different types of light source, double strobe effect, twice the fun.
2 color engines in the same luminaire
While keeping the characteristic SGM color mixing as the default configuration, the Q-8 brings added value with SGM's VersaPathTM : a designer selectable algorithm for advanced control over color transitions. With VersapathTM, operators can warm up or cool down their mixed RGB colors over the black body curve, deciding themselves which dominant prevails when moving from one color to another. When combined with CTC, Q-8 users can also emulate color filters over a specific native color temperature, or mimic the color path response of third-party RGB fixtures.
Full control via Studio Mode
The Q-8 includes the powerful SGM DMX Studio Mode, expanding its capabilities through a number of advanced features. Select up to 12 different dimming curves with fast response, smooth (default) fade-in, and low-end extended ranges, choose your preferred color mode (RGB CTC, RGBW CTC, RGB+W CTC, CMY, HSI, or XY), adjust fan speed to reduce noise, change the LED frequency range for any dimming value (3.1Khz to 30Khz), select up to 7 High-speed modes for demanding camera setups (up to 2000 fps), and increase or reduce the peaks of green in the white output via the Plus/Green mode. Learn more about the SGM Studio Mode by reviewing the DMX chart in the "Download" section.
Maximum reliability, all-weather design
With IP66 rating, a rock-solid head with integrated dehumidifier, and a sealed IP67 wet base, SGM turned the long-lasting tools from the Q family into a compact dual-purpose tank. This is the result of extensive research, in-house danish manufacturing, and ambitious product testing. The Q-8 users benefit from SGM's ThermalDriveTM control, patented DryTechTM system, and multiple years of experience in all-weather lighting technology.
Included SGM technologies
ThermalDriveTM
This thermal management techonology provides Advaced Temperature Control monitored via sensors and software, keeping optimal LED junction temperatures, and ensuring maximum reliability for long-term use. The ThermalDriveTM system includes cutting-edge heat removal via passive thermal tecniques and active forced-air cooling (depending on the product), specifically designed to maintain LED efficiency while extending fixture's lifetime.
TruColor+TM
All luminaires featuring this technology include all the TruColorTM capabilities, plus high color rendering (CRI / TLCI / CQS 90+) when using all RGB or RGBAM LEDs to achieve high-output dynamic whites. SGM's TruColor+TM luminaires use an enhanced color engine that improves accuracy and consistency both for color mixing and low-end dimming, while using the same procedures to match the SGM color palette.
DryTechTM
SGM's integrated patented Dehumidification process eliminates humidity and breaks down corrosive molecules deriving from polluted air to avoid destructive corrosion. Inbuilt dehumidifiers constantly remove trapped hydrogen from inside of the lighting fixture in a solid estate electrolytic process with no moving parts. The DryTechTM procedure is also based on a Ingress Protection rating of 65 or 66 (depending on the fixture), intended as a full protection against dust and other particles, while ensuring protection against direct water jets.
DualSourceTM
When including this proprietary technology, the luminaire features two types of light source in the same reliable fixture, allowing independent operational capabilities in terms of control, output, beam angle, design, and energy consumption. All DualSourceTM fixtures are based on an optimized power management system that shares the same power supply for all sources, while delivering the maximum possible output in each light source when used independently.
VersaPathTM
Designer selectable algorithm for advanced color path control, allowing any mixed RGB value to hold a specific color point in the spectrum by modifying the color temperature data. Color filter emulation presets react to color temperature adjustments when this color path is selected. All products featuring the next-gen VersaPathTM color engine also include the standard SGM proprietary color mixing algorithm.
