The demand for ever higher data rates also has to do with the increasing spread of mobile end devices, which either frequently collect and provide data, e.g. sensors, or primarily receive and display data. This change is also changing the required backbone networks and data center architecture and in many cases a 10 GBASE-T (10 Gigabit/s Ethernet) solution is no longer sufficient. The IEEE organisation has responded to this and developed the Ethernet variants with 25 GBASE-T (25 Gigabit/s Ethernet) and 40 GBASE-T (40 Gigabit/s Ethernet). The requirements for the attenuation budget are significantly higher than for 10 GBASE-T, for example, and this results in a maximum length of 30 metres for a total transmission path (channel-link), typically 24 metres of permanent-link and two patch cables, each 3 metres long. As a result, this application is primarily designed for data centers, server rooms and the connection between switches.

Cat. 8 system - the solution from TKM

TKM's cabling system is a Category 8.1 solution, thus ensuring backwards compatibility with Categories 6A, 6 and 5. As all individual components are directly available, customised make-to-order orders can be processed in the shortest possible time and the necessary permanent-links or copper trunks (multiple links) can be produced, and individual components can be sent directly to the installation site from stock. It is advisable to use ready-made permanent-links including factory measurement report, as this ensures safety and speed during installation and may even eliminate the need to measure the route, which can save costs.

Crimp Splice Protector by TKM with TS 0338/96

The TKM splice protector type Crimp (SSE splice protection element) is used to protect connections in fiber optic fusion splicing technology to the highest quality.

There are two methods of protecting a fiber optic splice - by shrinking and by crimping.

While the material used for shrink splice protection is less expensive than that used for crimp splice protection, there is another decisive advantage with crimping: the speed of crimping compared to shrinking. This results in considerable cost savings during installation.

Crimp splice protection is already widely used in the DACH countries and is becoming increasingly popular in other European and Asian countries.

TKM Crimping Tool

The TKM crimping tool is required to optimally apply the splice protector to the area of the fiber to be protected and to crimp the splice protector to the correct dimensions.

The tool for the splice protectors of type crimp is a high quality product which can be placed directly on the splicing device at the designated position.

This type of press is fully compatible with all crimp protectors from TKM.

Modular cassette system for state-of-the-art networks 

For cabinet-to-cabinet connections

The modular cassette system from TKM is particularly suitable for minimising installation times on site and covers a large number of variants. Pre-assembled copper or fiber optic trunks can be pulled in directly and snapped into the appropriate chassis without the need for installation tools. The cassette system covers all common cabling classes for copper (Cat. 6A and Cat. 6) and fiber optic data networks (OM5, OM3 and OS2). Future extensions to the data network can also be carried out on site by the data network technician using suitable components, as the extension components, such as the splice version of the fiber optic cassette, are designed for on-site installation.

Time-saving and simple installation

Installation time can be reduced by up to 75% with the factory-assembled and tested trunks - this saves valuable working time and reduces installation costs. The trunks are supplied with pull-in dust protection and can therefore also be pulled through raised floors or laid over cable platforms. The snap-in mechanism of all cassette types allows plug-and-play installation in the chassis in the enclosure, so only the cables themselves need to be laid professionally.

Cable management

The cable management at the rear of the chassis is realised by a cable management bracket, which is sufficiently dimensioned to enable perfect cable retention for all cassette types. Cable management at the front can be realised via an additional cable management unit, which, like the chassis itself, is attached using two of the chassis' existing mounting screws. A 0U space reserve is therefore required for this and can even be retrofitted to any distribution panel already installed. A hinged front with labelling option prevents mix-ups.
