Description

Visionary spaces demand energy systems that are as adaptable as their architecture. DC microGRIDs meet this requirement by distributing power from on-site renewables and storage directly to LED lighting and other DC loads, with fewer conversion stages and reduced losses along the path.

Within such networks, DC capable LED drivers act as facilitators that support the shift from AC-supplied luminaires to DC-ready systems while retaining familiar control behavior.

With D4i as a shared data language for drivers and sensors, established DALI-based control strategies can extend into DC installations instead of requiring a completely new architecture. Tridonic drivers for 350 V applications support and power DALI-2 sensors and communication nodes, so presence detection and diagnostic data remain available even when the electrical backbone becomes hybrid or fully DC.

In projects where it is not possible to make the switch from AC to DC in one step, hybrid configurations emerge in which AC-supplied zones coexist with DC-powered areas. By building on D4i and DALI-2, a single control philosophy can orchestrate AC and DC lighting from one system view.
