Data via lighting infrastructure
Description
Every visionary space has a nervous system: its lighting infrastructure. DALI-based controls and the new DALI Part 306 for multi-purpose sensors turn luminaires into data generators. They capture occupancy and environmental conditions on the same digital bus that controls the lighting and traces energy flow. This eliminates the need to install additional cabling, cutting investment for data-ready spaces.
Once collected and enriched with building information, luminaire and room data reveal where energy is wasted and where maintenance is due. Tridonic drivers with lumDATA make these data sets available in a standardised format for smart building applications. Tools such as lichtMONITOR, and related software, translate raw values into clear dashboards and notifications.
Consultancy and training services, including lightCOACH, close the loop between technology and operation so operators can focus on decisions, not spreadsheets. Via traditional interfaces such as BACnet, or more modern interfaces such as APIs or MQTT, the lighting network shares these insights with building management systems and digital platforms. The lighting infrastructure becomes a digital backbone for efficient operation and healthier, more adaptable buildings.
