Cassini is a luminaire series that combines functional light with atmospheric impact.
Each luminaire combines two light sources: a direct, bright task light and a soft, indirect ambient light. Formally, Cassini draws inspiration from topographical maps – layers and lines form bodies that guide light rather than merely emitting it. Made from birch and glass, Cassini references the organic shapes and colours of the 1970s.
Florine Schmitt is a designer focusing on luminaires, furniture and objects. In summer 2025, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture. In her work, she combines functional requirements with a playful, narrative approach to design. She reinterprets classic products and gives them a contemporary aesthetic. In addition to luminaires, she designs furniture and objects, placing particular emphasis on material combinations and detailing. Together with her fiancé, she founded the studio Niine, where she develops her own design objects.
